Sewing Felt Bear Bag For Doll Tutorial and Free Pattern



Make your own adorable felt bear bag with this easy-to-follow video tutorial! Perfect for doll accessories or as a fun handmade gift, this DIY project includes a free downloadable pattern. Video Tutorial




General Materials I used :



- Felt

- Card Stock paper/cereal box

- Yarn

- Needle

- Thread



Cut out all the pieces.





Bag A (With Gusset Side):


- Cut 2 for front

- Cut 2 for back

- Cut 1 for side

- Cut 2 inner card stock

- Strap is 9"



1. Transfer the Face Details:


Using the pattern as a guide, transfer the face markings onto one piece of felt.
 



2. Embroider the Face:


Embroider the eyes, nose, and mouth onto the marked felt.
 

3. Prepare the Front Panel:



Align a second piece of felt behind the embroidered piece. These two layers will form the front panel.
 


4. Sew the Front Panel:


Using a blanket stitch or whip stitch, sew from one ear to the other along the curved edge of the front panel.
 

5. Insert the Card Stock:



Slide one piece of card stock inside the front panel for structure.
 



6. Attach the Side Panel:


Take the side piece of felt, Stitch through all three layers of felt (front and side).

Start stitching it to the left ear of the front panel, continuing until you reach the right ear.

Set this completed front piece aside.(Front)

Set this completed front piece aside. (Back)
 



7. Prepare the Back Panel:


Align two new pieces of felt for the back panel.

 

8. Sew the Back Panel:


Sew from one ear to the other along the curved edge of the back panel using a blanket stitch or whip stitch.

 

9. Insert the Card Stock:


Slide the second piece of card stock into the back panel for structure.

 



10. Assemble the Bag:


Align the side piece (already attached to the front) with the back panel.

Stitch from one ear to the other, going through all three layers (back and side).

Strap (Bag A):


1. Cut and Prepare the Felt Strands:


Cut a piece of felt 1 inch wide.

Cut and divide it into three equal strands

 

2. Braid the Strap:


Stretch felt strands.

Braid the three strands together until the braid measures 9 inches
 



3. Attach the Strap:


Sew the braided strap securely to the sides of the bag.

Bag A is done!

Optional: You can use yarn or ribbon instead of felt for the strap.





Bag B (Without Gusset Side):


- Cut 2 for front

- Cut 2 for back

- Strap is 14"



1. Transfer the Face Details:


Using the pattern as a guide, transfer the face markings onto one piece of felt.

 

2. Embroider the Face:


Embroider the eyes, nose, and mouth onto the marked felt.

 

3. Prepare the Front Panel:


Align a second piece of felt behind the embroidered piece.

Sew from one ear to the other along the curved edge of the front panel.

 

5. Prepare the Back Panel:


Align the third and fourth pieces of felt together to form the back panel.

 

6. Assemble the Bag:

Align the completed front panel, the back panel, and the remaining two felt pieces.


Stitch all four layers together from under one ear to the other, using a blanket stitch or whip stitch.

7. Finish the Ears and Top of the Head:


Stitch along the ears and top of the head on the back panel.

Strap (Bag B):


1. Braid the Strap:

Use yarn to create a braid that is 14 inches long.

2. Attach the Strap:

Attach the braided strap securely to the sides of the bag. and the bag B is done!
